Fossil Fuel Stations - VERY IMPORTANT
The Mammoth is Eco-Friendly and supporting a Low Impact/Leave No Trace Race. Remember to B.Y.O.B (Bring your own bottle or bag). Hydration and nutrition stations will be available near the Race Start as well as throughout the courses (approximately every 2-3 miles). The infamous paper cup will be available in limited quantities at each station. Keep paper cups OFF the trail! Due to the nature of this TRAIL RUN, be prepared to run longer distances than usual between filling stations.
Trail Safety - ALSO VERY IMPORTANT
The Mammoth at Dino Valley is an epic run with nature at its’ best (and gnarliest)! Expect natural and unmarked obstacles, loose rocks, water, steep climbs and declines, roots, trees, sand, grass, pavement, critters and anything else nature can throw at you. THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY FOR TWO LOW, BUT WET RIVER CROSSINGS. One at the beginning and one near the end. BE PREPARED TO RUN WITH WET FEET!
All the trails are well established and will be marked and blazed accordingly. To avoid getting lost, STAY ON TRAIL and pay attention to your trail markers. Mammoth Trail Crew and Park Staff will be well dispersed throughout the trails.
BASIC First Aid will be established at each FOSSIL FUEL STATION. Cellular coverage is marginal at best in many areas of the Park. Should you decide to carry a mobile phone with you, be aware that you may not have service. In the event of an emergency that requires immediate attention CALL 911 for dispatch (assuming you have service) to Dinosaur Valley State Park and/or notify the nearest Mammoth Trail Crew Member, or another member of the Mammoth Herd to communicate down the trail. Watch out for your fellow trail runner and let's keep the trails SAFE!
